Nahr el Bared

My name is Shadia Abd El-Aal I am 52 years old from Saasaa Palestine and I live in nahr el bared refugee camp in Lebanon.
I never got married and never had kids however all my family’s kids fill up my free time, I like to spend it with them and doing art crafts and sewing.
I learned sewing and embroidery since a young age at home with my older cousins, I love everything about it, from the colors and patterns to the fact that it is our tradition.
Tatreez has offered a good financial support and a safe place to practice our skills and help improve and socialize with new friends.
I hope it get famous worldwide and we get to be known as who we are, our identity and get more and more successful.

My name is Zolanda Ghuneim, I am 49 years old from Safouri Palestine and I live in nahr el bared refugee camp, I am divorced now but I have 2 precious kids that are at school.
I barely have any free time when I am also taking care of my mom and my older brother who are sick at home.
I learned embroidery through the activities and training programs addressed to women in the camp to be able to support myself and my family and then I fell in love with it, I love the richness of the art behind it and it teaches me calmness and helps me cope with life situations.
Tatreez has offered me a good financial support and a safe place where I met new people and made friends, they formed a nice part of my life now, and they are so nice all of them. I hope tareez gets more success so we can grow with it and we can be known worldwide while spreading our beloved country’s tradition. I hope one day I can open a big training center where I can teach and spread the art of the Palestinian embroidery.

My name is Rawya Ghuneim, I am 45 years old from Safouri Palestine and I live in Nahr el Bared Camp. I learned Embroidery with a previous organization that held classes to teach palestinian women the skills, and I decided to make it a profession.
I spend most of my spear time practicing my embroidery skills and learning more, I often search online for new modern designs and see how to infuse them with the Palestinian traditional patterns and colors.

 

I also love cooking sweets and hennah drawing which I do every time I get the chance for myself and for my friends.

I love embroidery, it feels like I travel to other places inside my mind when I am working on something and it teaches me to be calm and patient and I forget the problems I face.

I am also proud to be a part of the tradition and helping to spread it out to the world.

Tatreez has offered us a lot of nice things that we needed in our lives, a safe place to come and work which is much better than working from home, new friends that I meet almost every day that are now a big part of my life, financial support that made me feel important around my loved ones and family, I can now do things on my own and buy things I need all by myself.

My name is Fathiyé Wehbe, I am 47 years old from Saasaa Palestine, living in Nahr el Bared refugee camp in Lebanon.

I learned embroidery here at the center when they were offering training classes for palestinian women living in the camp. I fell in love with it and made a job out of it with the help of Tatreez, it offered me a safe place to work and socialize where I met new friends, learned new skills and a financial support.


I spend most of my free time sewing and doing embroidery now and I hope the project will carry on and get more successful so we can get more successful and known worldwide.

My name is Samia Meslah, I am 49 years old and I am originally from Safouri Palestine but I am living in Nahr el Bared Palestinian Camp in north Lebanon.
I learned embroidery when my uncle’s wife taught me when I was a little girl, then lately I got into the training program here at the center and now it is my job.
I spend most of my spare time doing the house chores and taking care of my mom and dad. In the evening I watch some tv and I surf the internet for more sewing and embroidery ideas.
I love that we are spreading the Palestinian tradition and I love the skills and details in every stitch and how rich it is in patterns and colors.
Tatreez has given me a financial social support and a nice center to come and work in. I hope I can open my own center in the future where I will teach youth the skills and so the support and the tradition can carry on and on.

I am 35 years old from Samouee Safad in Palestine and I am living in Nahr el Bared Camp, I am divorced with no kids, so I kind of have a lot of free time in the day which I spend with my family, I also do embroidery and lots of walking.

 

I like to sew new materials and products so I also do that, in the evening I watch some movies.
I learned embroidery in the center when they offered to teach the skills for all women who were interested to take it on as a career.

Tatreez offered me a new safe place to practice my skills and learn more, it offered a financial support that most of us here in the camp need and mostly I met new women that now are my closest friends, and we come to work and socialize here at the center almost every day.

I hope tatreez will keep supporting us and teaching us until we are able to be pioneers in the market and I wish myself and all the ladies of tatreez lots of success.

My name is Assali Azam I am 58 years old from Safouri Palestine, living in Nahr el Bared Refugee Camp in Akkar Lebanon.
I learned Embroidery when I was a child in school we had an embroidery class as a part of activities program before, nowadays they don’t do it in schools anymore.
I spend most of my free time with embroidery and watching TV, I love to cook also, I usually cook for the whole family.
I love how embroidery makes me calmer and more patient, and makes me forget about problems I face in my life, it is also an honor that I am practicing our palestinian tradition and that I am helping to spread it out in the world.
Tatreez offered a nice safe center where I made new friends and I hope it continues to be successfully spread worldwide.
