My name is Basma Natour, I am 50 years old Palestinian from Akka el Asmariyeh, living with my husband and 5 kids in ein el helwe refugee camp, my boys graduated and work now with electricity, Aluminium, one of them is a photographer and the girl still goes to school.

I barely find any spare time in my day but if I do I like to spend it doing any of the sweet things I like, like reading and walking and mostly drawing.
I learned embroidery from my older sisters, it runs in my family, my gramma used to do it so well she was a true artist. I love that it is so creative and teaches you patience, it’s like meditation, a nice state of mind it puts u in as you need to be super careful with every stich.

I love tatreez because it gave me room to socialize and meet new people, also to be able to support my family and help financially as well, it gave me room to grow.

I want to keep teaching it to the coming generation to ensure that our beloved Palestinian tradition carries on, and more people know how beautiful it is and how far from wars and conflicts it can be!
